Given the current economic conditions we know that all of us are taking a serious, searching look at our donations budget and making choices based on community/world impact and our deepest hearts. We ask that you consider making GSF among your highest priorities. We have scaled back our design considerably from the original plans as a response to the economy. It is our choice to go forward fully rather than retreating when faced with difficulty. It is an opportunity for us as a community, to be exemplars of what we hope for in the world. Help us give form to this vision and take it to the next level. You are the only way this will happen – you are our inspiration – together we will change our shared world and our shared love of dogs. Why Not a non-profit? Many of you may want to know if your gift will be tax deductible. It will not. We are choosing to build this facility with the money that will either be gifted or paid as credit toward therapies offered at the farm. Non-profit organizations spend the majority of their time raising money. Those large enough have staff specifically designated for this purpose alone. Gentle Spirit Farm will have a very limited, well trained staff. It has been our experience working for small non-profits that the quality of service and maintenance of the facilities is often sacrificed because the time must be spent fund-raising. Our goal at Gentle Spirit Farm is to provide you and your dog with private, excellent care, education and therapies. We will need to make money to maintain the farm, the equipment, to educate and continue our research for the future of dogs. If we do not reach our goal of $300,000 by December 31, 2010, all monies given will be refunded.
