Reiki If you look up “Reiki” in the dictionary or encyclopedia it will describe it as a spiritual practice that doesn’t have any scientific evidence for the existence of it, and clinical trials conducted in 2008 did not support the efficacy of reiki or its recommendation for use in the treatment of any condition. Perhaps they should revise their text. All one needs to do is Google in “Reiki in Hospitals”, “Nurses and Reiki”, Kathie Lipinski, R.N. or Kathleen Prasad, to learn about the efficacy of reiki and how much it is used in conjunction with conventional medicine, both human and veterinarian. The National Institute of Health also has excellent information about the important value of this “spiritual practice”. I was offered the option of studying reiki when I attended massage school for humans. 17 years later I was again given the opportunity when I attended massage school for canines. Since then I have completed all required levels of training to become a Master, but particularly resonated with completion of my Karuna Reiki training. I found that it seems to be received especially well by the animals that are my clients. Reiki is so simple and natural that it compliments, and can be used in conjunction with any form of medicine or healing work. A treatment feels like a much needed release of “stuck” or blocked energy and then an infusion of a warm balancing flow of clear peacefulness. The quality of the session is very much dependent on the intention and respect of the practitioner. Animals are naturally receptive to this as they don’t have the ability to doubt, they are not skeptics.
