Because there is a need, an enormous need for a space dedicated to helping dogs and their companions heal. A space that offers warm water therapy year round. If you are reading this, than there is, or was a dog in your life that made a difference to you, to your everyday life, to your happiness, to your soul. Their energy is pure and accepting. They heal us everyday, through the gifts they bring, that our human relationships cannot. If you have trouble believing this, and need “evidence or facts,” take this simple test right now. Imagine you are sitting in a room with a dog at your feet and “feel” the feeling or the “energy” and then imagine the same scene but with a person sitting right next to you, instead of a dog. Feel that feeling. Note the difference.
There is evidence that animals lower our blood pressure and provide an energy field that is calming and healing. People do not, and often times, depending on the person, can in fact, increase our blood pressure and stress level. Our work and experience with dogs and their companions is leading us into a field of work we never imagined we would be practicing, During our therapy sessions with dogs, we would notice, without exception, that the dogs’ companion was experiencing the benefits of the session as well, just by being there. Most times the person would say , “Wow, that’s crazy, I feel better too!” Again it is due to the shift in energy that the animal provides.
Regardless of whether it was a warm water swim session, massage, or reiki, the session ended with both dog and human experiencing a positive, dramatic shift in their energy and awareness. This shift opens up a space, and a realization occurs which is profound. The center will offer conventional therapies to help your dog recover from injuries, strengthen their bodies, relieve anxiety and stress. Yet, it will also provide a retreat that focuses on exploring & strengthening the animal human bond & why so many of us choose to bring these wonderful creatures into our lives. Education, will be the cornerstone of Gentle Spirit Farm. With the money we raise we will renovate the existing garage, which will serve as classroom, observation area, and therapy rooms.
